How could investigation officer of Daporijo police station let accused run away freely after getting interim bail. Also why state intelligence department is not able to trace his whereabouts till date? Such callousness on the part of police department is forcing Arunachalee citizens to doubt their honesty in this case. Are they trying to shield their fellow policemen the main accused ASI Boham Bo? There is also unconfirmed report that parents of victim are being put under immense pressure to withdraw case by the accused.
The delay in arresting accused policeperson has angered the residents of Daporijo, where this infamous MMS scandal took place. The whole town is living on edge and many residents fear that further delay may lead to unrest among citizens. “People are maintaining silence because senior leaders and officers of Daporijo have promised that accused will be punished and victim will get justice. However citizens are running out of patience and closely watching the move of police department,” told one resident of Daporijo town over phone.
Condemnations pour in
Condemnation over MMS scandal at Daporijo police station, continued to pour in from various quarters.
Describing the crime committed by police as inhumane, shameful and violation of fundamental rights, All Tagin Students’ Union (ATSU) demanded the authorities concerned to arrest all the accused police personnel including ASI Boham Bo, the main accused, immediately and to award them exemplary punishment within a stipulated time.
“There is no need for further investigation into the case as the two arrested accused have already accepted their involvement in the crime, ATSU said.
Kara Welfare Society said that the crime committed by those police personnel has not only completely tarnished the image of state police but also ashamed entire humanity. “We demand nothing less than life imprisonment for those police personnel as the crime committed by them is equivalent to custodial death and custodial rape,” KWS said and demanded registration of criminal case against the accused.
All Arunachal Pradesh Capital Complex Students Union demanded the Upper Subansiri district authority to expedite the investigation against accused and award them suitable punishment as per law. It expressed its sympathy towards both the families of the victimized child.
“This day will always be remembered as black in the history of Arunachal Police”, Arunachal Law Students’ Union (ALSU) said while vehemently condemning the barbaric and inhumane act. It demanded the authorities concerned to book the culprits under relevant laws.
Kargu Kardi Students’ Union cautioned the Home Minister against any political intervention in the case and demanded immediate apprehension of the main accused ASI.

Widows demand Dabi’s resignation,

ITANAGAR, Mar 25: Widows of policemen has been agitating for the last few days seeking appointments under compassionate ground. These widows, sons and daughters of policemen are fighting for their rights. They lost their near ones who were serving in police department under various capacities. However after loosing them, when they are knocking at the door of government for help, every one is turning their back.
Recently these widows under the banner of All Arunachal Pradesh Widows Union (AAPWU) have come under one umbrella to seek justice. Despite running from pillar to post till date they have not been able to achieve anything. They were pinning hope on Home Minister Tako Dabi to help them but things did not go as they hoped. Now members of All Arunachal Pradesh Widows Union have demanded resignation of home minister for his failure to address the concern of widows.
“We don’t want a home minister like him who does not care for his fellow Arunachalees. All of us have lost husbands who were serving in police department. We want job in their place and we are not asking department to create new vacancy for us,” told one of the widows. Further widows informed that home minister Tako Dabi never cooperated with them when they went to meet him. “We look upto him but he hardly listens to our grievances and treat us differently. It’s a fact that since he became home minister, recruitment under compassionate ground has almost stopped. When Jarbom Gamlin was Home Minister, these recruitment were done properly,” told another widow. They have demanded home minister to resign as he is not able to take care of the family of those policemen who laid their life for the state.
Now they are pinning hope on Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu to rescue them from this crisis. “CM has consented to meet us on 29th March. We will tell our sad plight to him and hope he will treat us better than home minister,” said a member of AAPWU.
ITANAGAR, Mar 25: Former Chief Minister Gegong Apang strongly reacted to a ‘very derogatory and irresponsible comments’ made against him by Kahfa Bengia, Chairman of Save Arunachal Forum (SAF) during the course of a press conference held here yesterday.
“Though I welcome the objective behind forming the aforesaid forum and I have been nothing to say on their alleged corruption charges against the present Chief Minister, I was surprised and shocked to find my name being dragged,” the former Chief Minister said in a statement. Does the SAF Chairman know what the word ‘Mafia’ implies, have I ever been alleged to have engaged in looting spree of forest resources in collusion with some vested groups ?, Apang questioned while adding that he was never been a forest contractor or nor a Forest Minister.
While vehemently decrying the allegation leveled against him as "timber mafia", Apang demanded public apology from the Forum and withdrawal of charges immediately, failing which he shall be constrained to approach the court of law to seek justice.
Describing the comments made by Kahfa Bengia, as malicious, unwarranted, totally baseless and a concerted effort of his character assassination, the former Chief Minister said such irresponsible utterances in public domain are uncalled for from one of the senior political leaders and once a Minister of the state. If I ever have been found to be a part of the so called " mafia ", I am open to detailed investigation. Let a neutral investigating agency like CBI investigate all such cases. I shall be more than happy to cooperate in such investigation. Let there be a public debate on such issues, he said.
Apang further said that the responsibility of protecting the forest and its proper utilization is under the control of Forest Minister and officials under the forest department. “I see today there is wanton destruction of trees/plants of the state in general and in and around of capital complex in particular in the name of development. The common public are also witness to the extent of damages caused to the forest wealth once one enters the capital from Banderdewa and Hollongi Check gates”, the statement said while adding that the capital is turning out to be a jungle of concretes. In the name of development, even the statue of Mahatma Gandhi located in the prime location of the capital has been dismantled, and in the same place huge RCC structures are coming up. Have the Forum or the civil society ever bothered to raise such issues? Apang questioned.

ITANAGAR, Mar 25: The World TB Day was observed in Lower Dibang Valley District with a theme, ‘On the move against Tuberculosis – Transforming the fight towards elimination’ yesterday.
On the occasion, a mass awareness procession was organised and this was followed by public meeting at Govt Middle School, Abali Model village.
Dr A Yirang, DMO highlighted the objectives of the World TB Day. He hoped that the message to remain healthy and mentally alert against TB disease by taking preventive measures will spread through such awareness campaign. It would also help to judge oneself and get screened for diseases like TB, he said.
Dr SJ Mitapo, District TB Officer highlighted the importance of World TB Day and explained details about TB and its diagnosis and treatment under RNTCP Programme and also dealt at length on the topic ‘TB as Burden’. Siga clarifies
ITANAGAR, Mar 25: A civil engineer can always be appointed in hydro power department/corporation, said Taru Siga, the Managing director of the Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh (APDCAP) in a release today. He was reacting to the statement of the All Law Students Union (ALSU) which claimed that Govt has violated rules while appointing Siga as MD of APDCAP. Stating that he was not appointed directly as MD, Siga further clarified that he was on deputation as GM of APDCAPL for two years upto to Aug 31, 2010. However, on voluntary retirement of then MD on January 31, 2009, Govt has ordered him to hold the charge till appointment of new MD, he said. The Govt later ordered him to continue to the post for another two months upto March 31, 2011 till alternative arrangement is made.
Admitting that he has taken voluntarily retirement as PWD Superintendent Engineer on January 31 last, Siga said his appointment as HPDCAPL MD after retirement from PWD is made under permissible rule.

Net is like a drug addict, don’t too much indulge in net like chatting, video conferencing, social networking or even to play Games etc. Netizens who visit the educational sites does themselves a world of good. That is the use of advancement in technology to serve their purpose. Now a day’s especially student or teenager groups are doing wrong use of net. Even thought they are very well aware of the dangers, they cannot control their impulses.
Cyberspace gives them the space and freedom, they seek in life. It is this fact that makes it an evil thing. Internet turns to an addiction. Browsing in internet is truly profitable and the sites on education are valuable. One thing they must be aware about which path stride. For these act, I blames parents who totally give their child freedom to addict in net, whatever demand of child they fulfill. Now, with more developed technology and facilities in mobile phone net, the students use net service in class room too.
I would like to request parents body to aware of net and at least control your brood from addiction of net. Let technology be blessing and the rein ought to be drawn on evil urges.
